Doom Scrolling

How often do you find yourself 'Doom Scrolling'?

In fact lets back track, what even is Doom Scrolling?!

For many it started during the pandemic with the daily news updates. You know the one's, for us in the UK at about 5pm the infamous update would tell us how many hospital admissions and how many more people had tragically died. It was all doom and gloom.

After a while it wasn't about keeping up with current affairs and the news it was this bizarre pull towards the bad news which was filling our screens daily, the media have perfectly set the stage for us to get drawn into the 'doom' of the world, after all bad news sells, right?

“We spend up to half of our waking time online, but more than ever, people say being online makes them feel disconnected from themselves and their interests,” says Andréa Mallard, Pinterest CMO.

If doom is sitting central stage then waiting on the side lines is the blinding light called Pinterest.

Pinterest's new campaign Don't Don't Yourself sums this up for better than my words and over the coming months we will be covering Pinterest's newest campaign, which in our humble opinion, is the best yet.

Pinterest defies self doubt in newest global brand campaign, “Don’t Don’t Yourself”

Pinterest speaks straight to us all in a relatable way and then gives us what we need. A sanctuary. A safe space on the Internet for both Pinners and Creators.

Keep an eye out for their other Don't Don't Yourself videos; Inner critic, Procrastination, Judgement and Fear of Failure. All equally perfectly put together and hits the nail on the head every.single.time.

“Our latest campaign highlights how Pinterest is a different side of the Internet, where you can focus more on doing and less on viewing, where you can find what you love and forget about likes and where you can plan your life and try something new, free of judgment.” says Andréa Mallard, Pinterest CMO.

Fear of failure. Judgment. Doomscrolling. Procrastination. Inner critic. Too much of the world distracts us, makes us doubt ourselves and makes us think we’ll be laughed at if we try. But nothing silences a saboteur like the simple act of doing

Pinterest’s latest brand campaign exposes the inner saboteurs that hold us back and highlights how Pinterest is the antidote to doubt. “Don’t Don’t Yourself” is the mantra at the heart of this new campaign, emphasising the belief that the act of doing can help silence those feelings of fear and self-censorship that can sometimes hold us back.

This new campaign takes on those critics, defying the "don'ts'' directly with the energy and positivity of "do.” Pinterest knocks down barriers and encourages people to create a life they love.

Power of Pinterest

There are many reasons why we love focusing on Pinterest; its amazing marketing power for all businesses (you want website traffic?! then Pinterest is your best friend!) but the Pinterest company ethos and where they put their energy is like no other platform.

Pinterest is a business, just like Meta, but that is where the similarity ends. It is a platform dedicated to being a safe place on the Internet that inspires and allows us to not only find solutions but to search, find and scroll through content that is sensored and safe.

Commitment to positive mental health and wellbeing.

This month Pinterest announced a first-of-its-kind global partnership with Headspace. Part of this partnership will be with Pinterest inviting hundreds of thousands of eligible creators to receive a free 6-month subscription to Headspace. So if you have a Pinterest account and are creating content regularly you will be in for a chance of being granted a free 6-month membership.

With both of us being certified Positive Psychologists and advocators of improving our health and happiness in our daily work and lives. We love collaboration like the Headspace & Pinterest one! After all Headspace was started with one mission: to improve the health and happiness of the world.
